Kalabahi is the capital and port for Alor Island, the largest island of the Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia, between the Flores and Savu seas. The island is 2,330 square km (900 square miles) in area and features two major mountains which are both old volcanoes and a platea broken up by steep ravines. Kalabahi is set inside a peaceful bay embraced by white sandy beaches. Festive occasions on the islands involve the exchange of pigs, gongs, and mokos, cast-bronze Takpala drums of unknown origin.
