About
Seabourn
Cruise
Line... Seabourn Cruise Line is part of Cunard Line Ltd., but operates
as a separate entity. Both Cunard and Seabourn are part of Carnival Corporation,
whose seven cruise lines are members of the "World's Leading Cruise Lines"
marketing group.
Seabourn markets its ships as "The Yachts of Seabourn"
and the ultra luxury ships do in fact feel like private yachts -- or, more
aptly, private clubs. The 208-passenger sister ships Seabourn Legend, Seabourn Pride and Seabourn Spirit are nearly identical,
and all create an intimate environment where wealthy passengers can unwind with
their peers, enjoy fine dinner cuisine and solicitous service, and visit exotic
ports around the world.
Seabourn passengers are used to the very best, and for the
most part on these small ships they get it. All cabins are suites, and they are
well equipped with designer soaps, and all the latest and greatest amenities
(TVs with VCRs, Bose Wave sound systems, and so forth). A complimentary bottle
of champagne greets you in your cabin. Bar drinks are complimentary and refilled
promptly. Dinner service, with complimentary wine, is as fine as at the grand
European hotels. With an abundance of public space and few fellow passengers,
you may feel you have the vessel to yourself -- no annoying crowds or lines
here.
While most of your fellow passengers are likely to be American,
there will also be international passengers onboard. All are likely to be well
off and well traveled. Conversation often includes past and future
trips.
The average age depends on the cruise region and itinerary, but
tends to range from late 40s to late 60s. On shorter cruises and summer cruises
there may be a few families onboard, and while the line caters to adults more
than kids, the crew may add some impromptu children's activities to keep the
youngsters happy and occupied.
Seabourn passengers are intensely loyal to
the line, and as many as half the passengers on any given sailing may be
repeaters. |
